Mystery Quilt

Join us at Quilt In Joy for our very first Mystery Quilt. We'll be running our Mystery Quilt a little differently than other quilt shops. There is no fee to be part of this program and no class to attend. We will have incentives throughout the year.

What is a Mystery Quilt?
You will receive cutting and sewing directions four times throughout the year for making a beautiful quilt. The mystery is you have no idea what the quilt is going to look like until it is finished.

How do I get the instructions?
Stop in at the shop to pick up your free instructions. The first set of instructions will be available anytime during the month of December.
The remaining instructions will be available each quarter beginning March 1, June 1 and September 1, 2009.

Must I bring in a completed section to receive the next pattern?
You do not have to bring in completed sections. The beauty of this project is everyone works at there own pace. This is a no pressure quilt!

How big is the Mystery Quilt?
It will measure approximately 57" x 75" when completed.

How much fabric do I need?
You will need 14 different fabrics in lights, darks and mediums. Most pieces will be either 3/8 of a yard or ¼ yard. This is a good time to use up some of your stash and of course we have lots of beautiful fabrics, too.

What if I get stumped while working on the quilt?
Everyone who works at Quilt In Joy is also a quilter. There is always someone available to answer your questions.

What skills do I need to make this quilt?
You should be comfortable using a rotary cutter and machine piecing.

Who designed the pattern?
Judy Hopkins designed the pattern. She has written 15 quilting books and is noted for her clear instructions and accurate patterns. You can check her website for samples of work she has done. http://www.marshamccloskey.com/judyhopkins.html
