Quilt In Joy Presents Trunk Show and Make-n-Take With Soft Scap® June 1, 2008  |  View Flyer Quilt in Joy is presenting a Trunk Show and Make-n-Take classes featuring Soft Scrap®, a way to combine photography, quilting and scrapbooking in a new and innovative art form. The Trunk Show will be Saturday June 28 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with Make-n-Take classes at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. The event will be held at the Quilt in Joy store located at 10709 Dundee Road in Huntley. Soft Scrap® is fun and easy way to let people save memories and create memories in quilts, wall hangings and pillows. It uses ink jet printable fabric and any ink jet printer to print your pictures directly onto the fabric. Then the Soft Scrap® techniques use simple sewing skills to create one-of-a-kind heirloom projects. “We first saw Soft Scrap® at the International Quilt Festival in Chicago”, said Kathi Dayon, owner of Quilt Joy, “and wanted to bring it to our store. I contacted Vicki Shetter, creator and educator of Soft Scrap®, from New London Wisconsin and we put together the Trunk Show and Make-n-Take classes.” “As the Soft Scrap® word spreads, people continue to comment about the quality of the images on fabric and the uniqueness of the designs,” said Vicki Shetter. “Our techniques combine the design freedom and flair of scrapbooking with the rich texture and colors found in fabrics. In addition, the Soft Scrap® technique allows people with little sewing experience to create high quality products and people with extensive sewing experience to finish projects in a fraction of the time of traditional piecing & quilting methods.” The Trunk show will display a variety of projects including small quilts, wall hangings, and pillows. Soft Scrap® Design Books as well as the ink jet printable fabric will also be available. At the Make-n-Take, students will create a Victorian Pincushion. “This project went over very well at the Chicago International Quilt Festival,” Shetter said.
