Summer 2008 Classes Creative Classes Summer Class Special, register and pay with a buddy and you both get a 10% discount. Meet the Teachers, see the samples, and register on Saturday June 7th from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. Refreshments served. 1. YOU CAN QUILT This class is for the person with little or no quilting experience. You will learn quilting basics from rotary cutting to simple machine quilting. The lessons will provide hands-on experience as you create a lovely 40” Rail Fence square quilt to use as a wall hanging, table topper or baby quilt. 2. YOU CAN QUILT II Learn how to cut and sew half square and quarter square triangles. With your new knowledge you will make Friendship Star and Flying Geese blocks and turn them into a lovely 36” square quilt. When you complete this class, you will have a good quilting foundation that will give you confidence to try other quilting projects. 3. YOU CAN PAPER PIECE Paper piecing is an easy way to get perfect matched points and angles while sewing on a foundation. Uses the book, Painless Paper Piecing. Create the Stained Glass Lattice Quilt. One of our most popular classes. 4. SLICED/PIECED – SUMMER HEARTS Back by request, a repeat of a winter class, the sample is done in Moda’s Wildflower prints. The hearts are sliced and rotated to create the effects in the block. Summer Heart Quilt. 5. SUMMER PIECED PLACEMAT - NEW Use bright summer fruit or floral prints to create and complete your placemat, using the Bow Tie Dinner Pattern. This is an all day “get finished” class that breaks for an hour lunch. 6. CURVED TEMPLATE PIECING: This intermediate class adds a new creative technique in sewing curves and slicing fabric. There are many design possibilities, play with the color wall to create colorful swirls. A wow factor included in the Radiant Sun pattern. Definitely Intermediate. 7. TOTE/ BAG CLASS NEW You pick one of our patterns and the fabric and spend the day completing your bag. The class is offered either during the week or on a Saturday. One hour lunch break. 8. HAND SEWING SAMPLER NEW This all day hand sewing lesson includes the sampler and supplies to complete. Learn to hand quilt, tie off, and bury your knot. Dinah is an exquisite hand quilter and will help you refine your skill. Hand binding is included. Class cost also covers supplies. One hour break for lunch. 9. LOG CABIN QUILT NEW Using Judy Martin’s very popular, Log Cabin Quilt Book, we’ll build the blocks with color variations and then play with the style to create this time honored treasure of a quilt. All supplies and patterns for classes need to be purchased separately and are not included in the cost of the class, unless otherwise indicated. Patterns included with our classes may not be shared due to Federal copyright laws. Supply lists are available for each listing. Summer Events: (Space is limited, registration required) 10. WE Q 2! – (We Quilt, Too!) Have a budding quilter in the house? This class is for the young creative mind. It is geared specifically for kids between the ages of 11 and 16. June 7 we’ll be doing P.J. pants. No Club for the holiday weekend in July. 11.BLOCK OF THE MONTH PICK UP Try this NEW Star Block of the Month in either of two color ways, traditional and batik. Four blocks make up a Starry Starry Night table runner. Each block is a new star. $5.00 for the first kit and the next kit is free when you bring in your finished block. Please register at the store for your time slot and pick up additional information. 12. BLOCK OF THE MONTH CLUB: Currently full. Working on a primary color quilt with a Scandinavian look. 13. WORK IN PROGRESS NIGHT The first Friday of each month we order in and work to finish projects from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. It’s a fun way to quilt and enjoy other quilters. During the summer these are June 6th and August 1st. 14. SOFT SCRAP TRUNK SHOW MAKE IT AND TAKE IT – FREE NEW Sat. June 28th, Vicki Shetter will be here from Soft Scrap. We’ve been using their photo fabric and find it to be the best yet. Come and see what you can do to create memories using this creative material. Morning and Afternoon classes, registration required. 15. KIDS SUMMER QUILT CAMP – LOG CABIN NEW We can’t take the kids to the cabin so we’ll create it here. All supplies included for a lap sized log cabin. Four consecutive mornings in July. Rotary cutting included, geared to youth 10 or order. 16. PRIVATE SEWING LESSONS NEW Did you purchase your machine from the discount store and stuck on getting started? Give us a call and we’ll get you started, working around your schedule. $20.00 per hour, or bring a friend and share the cost. 17. YOUR OWN QUILTING CAMP NEW Want to spend some special time sharing your quilting gift with your grandchild or grandchildren when they visit this summer? Give us a call and we’ll make arrangements for mornings with you and them. They’ll like sewing on our little, very functional children’s machines and walk away with a complete project.
